The all-purpose cooking sauce, Gentare from Towada City

By Keiko H. Johnson
Staff Writer

Among many sauces and spices sold at the local stores in Misawa, the staffs at The Insider's office selected Gentare as the most convenient multi-purpose sauce in existence. This sauce is produced in Towada. It is initially sold as Japanese BBQ sauce. Currently, there are three different flavors to choose from. The flavors are Shio, sweet soy base, and spicy soy base. The Shio based sauce particularly blends well with chicken and pork, and the soy-based sauce is versatile to any stir fry dishes. When you are looking for a quick and easy recipe, this sauce definitely comes in handy. Additional spices I add in this dish can be omitted when you fix the dish. The recipe I am introducing here is the dish I frequently fix at home.
