Snack/ Snap Endou

By Nao H. Kauffman
Chief Editor

As the weather warms up, all of us anticipate the coming of spring ? blooming cherry blossom from east to west as if a big current rolled onto the northern part of Japan at the end. We would be almost the last people to fi nally enjoy spring while the rest of the country start summer. Today, I would like to introduce quick seasonal snacks made by beans. They are great with beer, and also healthy for children's snacks.

Ingredients (serving 2-3 people):
2 packages of snack / snap Endou (they are usually sold for about 200 yen per package.)
A teaspoon olive oil
1/2 squeezed fresh lemon
Pepper and salt
1. Peel off the side of pod as shown on the picture.
2. Heat the oil with medium heat and quickly stir-fry the beans. (Do not overheat to keep the beans crunchy.)
3. Squeeze the fresh lemon, and sprinkle pepper and salt
4. Serve them in a bowl. Let's enjoy!
