Misawa Jr. Ice Hockey Club

On March 17 and 18 in 2012, the Japan Ice Hockey Federation ran the first Tohoku under 9 (the third grade and younger) ice hockey tournament at Morioka city's ice arena. This tournament had to be canceled last year due to the natural disaster in Tohoku Region. Fortunately, six teams in Tohoku Areas such as Akita, Aomori, Iwate and Miyagi and Fukushima could join the tournament this year. Since the teams from Ishinomaki and Fukushima went through tremendous hardships last year, this tournament was a big step and became very special for those young players.
Misawa Jr. B team won two games on 17th and also won the championship against Iwate A team next day. This was their first trip out of town and a great experience of winning a big trophy for the first time. On the ice, the young rookies lively put their efforts and created exciting actions. However, they also frankly make new friendships from different areas and shared interests in their favorite sport after each game.
For the upcoming weekend, two big Jr. Tournaments take a place at the Misawa Ice Arena. See the event schedule for more detailed information. On April 21 and 22, the annual Aomori Little Rookies Tournament will start from morning till early evening. Beside the regular games by the local Jr. Teams in Aomori and a few teams from other southern areas, it has a young ladies game and a little rookies' game as exhibition. Please visit the Misawa Ice Arena and cheer them on. For those who are interested in joining Misawa Jr. Ice Hockey Club in the next season, please feel free to email Mrs. Taeko Koizumi to ty.misawajunior(a)gmail.com.
