The third Sunday of June is Father's Day. What do you normally do for your father? According to my favorite shopping site rakuten in Japan, there are some great gift ideas for dads. Father’s Day started in the United States. In 1910, J.B. Dot who lived in Washington State held a service at church in June for her father’s birth month. She realized the oddness there wasn’t any type of appreciation day for fathers even though people already celebrated Mother’s Day at that time. She express deep gratitude her father because her father raised her alone. Afterwards, this becomes familiar across the country. In 1972, Father’s Day was officially established. It took about 60 years to be adopted in many regions. It is also said that carnation is popular Mother’s Day gift while white or yellow roses are for Father’s Day. Japan, Canada, England, and Ireland are similar although some other countries pick different times for Father's Day.
Here is the 2010 Rakuten Top 10 gift idea.

Personalized Sake Bottle is a unique item. It would be probably hard to find if you were in the states. Some fathers may use business cards only in Japan. So, that would be also very special. If you take your item to Kondo gallery, they can personalize names or initials by special fonts. When I flew by JAL during this Golden Week, the shirt holder case shown in JAL Shop magazine caught my eyes. This would be a truly useful item for people who regularly go on business trips. It can hold a nice shirt and tie without getting all wrinkled. The prices and items are very limited and may be subject to change. I hope this may help you. Happy Father's Day!
